March is Colon Cancer Awareness Month. Don’t forget to schedule your colonoscopy!

Gastro Tests and Procedures

Small Bowel Capsule Endoscopy

A procedure where the patient swallows a small, pill-sized camera that captures thousands of images as it travels through the small intestine. This test allows for a detailed view of the small bowel, aiding in diagnosing conditions like Crohn’s disease, small bowel tumors, and unexplained gastrointestinal bleeding.

CH O’Regan Hemorrhoid Banding

The CRH O'Regan Hemorrhoid Banding is a quick, minimally invasive procedure that uses a rubber band to cut off blood flow to an internal hemorrhoid, causing it to shrink and fall off painlessly within a few days.

Flexible Sigmoidoscopy

A minimally invasive exam of the large intestine from the rectum through the lower colon using a scope to visually examine the area.

Colonoscopy

A procedure to see inside the colon, using a long, lighted flexible tube mounted with a tiny camera.

Upper Endoscopy (EGD)

A procedure where a thin, flexible tube with a camera is used to examine the esophagus, stomach, and the beginning of the small intestine. It helps diagnose conditions like acid reflux, ulcers, and other upper digestive tract issues.

Esophageal Manometry

A test that assesses the functionality of the upper esophageal sphincter, esophageal body, and lower esophageal sphincter in the upper GI tract.

Esophageal Impedance

Esophageal Impedance testing measures the movement of liquids and gases in the esophagus to assess reflux types (acidic or non-acidic) and diagnose conditions like gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).

Gastrostomy tubes

Gastrostomy tubes (G-tubes) are feeding tubes inserted through the abdomen directly into the stomach. They provide a means of delivering nutrition, fluids, and medications to patients who cannot eat by mouth due to various medical conditions.
